Using the Search Engine
The search engine utilized by the FPPC's internal website allows for a variety of search options to help you find exactly what you're looking for.
All, or Any?
Want to only search for documents containing all of your search terms? Make sure to select the option for "all search words" next to the word "Match". If you aren't quite sure what words are in the document, and are trying a bunch of different words to find it, then select the "any search words" option.
Wildcards
'?' and '*' wildcards are supported. The '?' will match any single character, while the '*' will match any number of characters in a single word.
Examples:
pol* will match the words: political, polly, policy, etc.
s?re will match the words: sure, sore, etc.
Make sure to exclude this word...
If you'd like to find a document that does not include a certain word, put the minus ('-') symbol in front of the word you wish to exclude.
Example:
The following search term legal -policy will search for all documents containing the word legal but not the word policy.
I'm looking for a phrase...
If you want to find a specific sequence of words, i.e. a phrase, wrap your phrase with double quotes(").
Example:
"basis for assertion of the privilege" will find all documents containing the phrase basis for assertion of the privilege.
Using the Calendar
The FPPC Web site has calendars for several different "events" at the FPPC, including Meeting Agendas, Press Releases, and Workshops and Seminars. To navigate through the calendars, use the << and >> links to go backward and forward by one month, respectively. Underlined days will indicate there is an item for that date. Hover over the underlined day to see a description for that item below the calendar. Click on the underlined day to be taken to the linked page for that event. On the home page, clicking on the underlined day will take you to the "Events" page. On the "Events" page you can see all events for the selected day, use the Events calendar to see events for a different day, add an event to your calendar (see the help topic below), or click on an Event to be taken to the page for that item. For example, clicking on a Meeting Agenda link will take you to the Agendas page for that particular item. The Press Releases and Agendas page have their own Calendars as well, allowing you to view Press Releases or Agendas for different days.
Adding an event to your calendar (back to top)
Clicking on the 'Add to Your Calendar' icon (
) will add the event to an iCalendar-compatible application, such as Microsoft Outlook.

What is an RSS Feed?
RSS Feeds are simple text files that usually contain article headlines, a short description the article (sometimes the entire text of the article), and the release date of the article. Many websites use these to allow visitors to quickly skim through their content without having to view the entire page. Most modern browsers allow one to subscribe to and view RSS feeds. There are also simple RSS viewers available for free online. You can see more on RSS feeds here.
Subscribing to an RSS Feed
Most modern browsers have a mechanism to subscribe to RSS feeds. In Internet Explorer 7 or greater, click on the
icon in order to view and subscribe to the various RSS feeds on the site. Conversely, you can go to the RSS Feeds page and click on one of the links to view and add the RSS feed to your feed list. If you are using a different program to view RSS feeds, you will need to review that program's documentation on how to subscribe to RSS feeds.
