As the State of California continues to carefully resume services during the ongoing pandemic, the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) will reopen its phone advice lines on July 1st.

Effective Wednesday, July first, FPPC staff will resume providing advice on the Political Reform Act via its phone lines that were suspended because of the pandemic. The hours will be Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. This advice is aimed to provide guidance to campaigns, committees, and candidates for office. The phone number is 1-866-ASK-FPPC (1-866-275-3772).

“The fall elections are coming up quickly, so we feel it’s important to resume providing the types of services that are needed to ensure a smooth election,” said FPPC Chair Richard C. Miadich. “We want to provide as much assistance to the public and to the various campaigns as we can while still trying to do so as safely as possible for the staff and public.”

Along with the resumed phone advice lines, email advice continues to be available at any time. If you have an advice question related to the Political Reform Act, please send your question to advice@fppc.ca.gov. A response is usually provided within 48 hours.

The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) is California’s governmental ethics and campaign disclosure agency.
