McPherson Commission set to issue final report
Berkeley study available on FPPC website

The Bipartisan Commission on the Political Reform Act of 1974, more commonly known as the McPherson Commission, will release its final report and recommendations in late June or early July.

Legislation by Sen. Bruce McPherson (R-Santa Cruz) created the commission in 1998 for the purpose of studying the FPPC and the Political Reform Act of 1974. For further information on the commission, contact Chairman Steve Lucas at (415)784-6871.

A key element of the commission's work is a report prepared by researchers at the Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) at the University of California at Berkeley. The IGS released the study in April to advise the McPherson Commission in its extensive two-year review of the Political Reform Act. The table of contents of the 149-page report is attached.
